Are Looks Really Deceptive???

It is often said that looks are deceptive that’s why we go by the saying never judge a book by its cover. The first impression made by us on a person usually lasts for a lifetime cause first impression is the last impression. A keen sense of observation will usually have something else to tell. People who look innocent and sweet are the first ones to turn their backs on you or quietly stab you in your back. Change in attitude is common, usually easy to accept due to changing situations but a double-faced person is not easy to live with. The habit of observing people which I have developed over the years does come to my help in judging people...the ones thought to be sweet, innocent and caring are something else behind the façade which right now only I can see and only time will tell when others will see the same things...its only a matter of time. The sly look can never escape my eyes. Im thankful that life has shown me various situations, pleasant or otherwise it has been a learning experience and a much better understanding of the nuances of life or more like the mysterious inter-working of the heart and brain. They say Geminians are double-faced, but life shows something else where mostly people falling under other sun-signs are double-faced and not the Geminis!!! But seriously the whole thing simply boils down to the fact that never trust anyone on face-value...believe none other than yourself.

Changing Perspectives

The world around you is the way you tend to see it...basically it depends on your perspective. The same way when something is said it also depends on the way you take it, on one side you may take things in a good way where you want to improve yourself but the worst arises when things said are misunderstood. Today was just reflecting on the past during my evening walks when I always manage to feel one with nature, that all this while I have been telling myself to open up to life when it has so much to offer yet I haven’t been able to do so whole-heartedly cause somewhere something is stopping me or holding me back. Its all in the mind, its only when you let your mind open up to the surroundings is when you can open up to life completely. Letting go of the past is difficult as I said before but the process for me has begun and I have come a long way when things said or done don’t matter to me so much like it did in the past. Time to look for stability when I can see such drastic changes around me. The past does hurt no doubt not because it was bad but due to the fact that I had to let it go on such a bad note but, what is the use of holding onto something which gives me happiness but not the people around me who matter the most to me. Words of encouragement comes from close quarters which does help a lot, quoting ‘place me in your past see me if you have to see a wrong face, listen to my voice if past bad conversations hurt you, feel me around you standing strong to protect you.’ It is better to feel the good things of the past which have still remained with me rather than the ones which have left me and remembering them now hurts like hell. Yet advice again from Abhinav helps where I came to actually thank life for giving me a chance to experience something completely different, to be close to someone other than my family, to observe someone so closely, share secrets, jokes, comments, dreams, hopes and aspirations. It was a wonderful time when I had someone who would listen to me patiently for hours together without uttering one word lest I get disturbed in my usual sob stories of life!!! How I miss that patient ear now only I know but I still move on cause I still have that but now in a different form and Im not complaining. Looking back does hurt but when Im overcome with nostalgia more than the fights there are beautiful memories which I will cherish forever. It did manage to teach me lot of things and harsh realities of life. I have often complained that the past year ripped me off my peace of mind but on the brighter side it taught me the ways of life not to mention the working of the human brain with its varied interests. As I say life is too short for holding grudges or having regrets I manage to take life as it comes which might be sweet, bitter or sour...

Exams...Ugh!!!

God help me! Its end of march yet again and as usual Im practically killing myself over exams. After freaking out the whole year its time to hit the books and it makes me see stars in broad daylight. I havn't been sleeping, eating or blogging properly for the last few days which is the main source of my existence yet Im living to face the two hour torture of my theory papers. But looking at things on the brighter side, the torture gets over within two hours and Im glad for that unlike others who have to sit for three hours. Can't wait till this torture gets over cause it seems to be worse than Chinese torture, not that I have faced the Chinese torture but as they say that its human nature to perceive that the grass is greener on the other side of the fence. Hope to maintain my sanity till the end of exams!!!

Double Standards

Everywhere there are double standards from utilising people as mentioned before to portraying something which one is not. I don't understand how can they be double faced??? Show what you are or rather be what you are not something which you are not just to fit into a group. They show something when told about the situation and something else behind the person's back. Just wonder to what extent they can change themselves or manipulate the others. Having fun at other people's expense wonder how long will it last. I hate doing it but I can't help but mock at them. Some of them seem to suffer from attention deficient disorder when they want attention from the opposite sex and will do anything for it, even break a relationship. Portray themselves as being very pious and spiritual but only the victims know what these people actually are...hell raisers. I have never been spiteful against anyone but right now its like instinctively Im abusing and cursing these people, yet the way of life which I have seen makes me realise that only time will tell how long such groups will last which I know out of experience is not long. Groupism in college is one thing which never lasts specially with these people who maintain double standards. Today they will associate with one group tomorrow with someone else, and they call this stability...ya right makes me wanna gag!!! Never lose your identity cause once it is gone it sums upto losing everything in life, when I see these people around me changing I end up thinking that today so early in their life if they are so insecure what will they do later on??? So influenced by other people that it makes me wanna hammer them hard to knock some sense into their heads, to learn to take their own decisions and deciding their own life for themselves. But in the end I know its a waste of time and energy barking up the wrong tree. Eventually they will tell me one thing and do something else...makes me all the more angrier even tough I know its a sheer waste of time. So now I have stopped and frankly after all this while it has stopped making so much of a difference, it still does hurt but not like before and Im glad for that. Its only a matter of time before realisation hits them and by then Im over and out...

Hope

They say never take away the hope from people cause most of the time thats the only thing they are left with. But at the same time never give hope and snatch it away, you never know you may just be snatching away the life from them. Hope is the only thing which sustains life, you have hope and you have your life...the trials and tribulations are all momentary but your hopes remain with you no matter what, and it is only hope that helps you overcome every difficulty in life. Hope is something which I refuse to give up now. Its hard to let go of everything and start afresh but I have made an effort and Im moving on 'alone'. To live life again, to open up to life and welcome it with open arms takes a lot of effort than what one might think, but its worth it. There are times when it feels nice but there are also times when I end up feeling lonely, thats when my logic comes into play and I stop myself. Life has so much to offer so why restrict myself??? It helps a lot to interact with new people, visit new places, all are temporary no doubt, yet the only permanent feeling is of the strength inside oneself. Nothing can be more satisfying than staying in the same place and facing the problems. That is true courage. Cowardice is not the way of life though I see it all around me its their personal choice when they give up hope on life. How can life be so short, filled with such few things??? Yet we all restrict life, give up hope which is the biggest mistake we make. Its a herculean task to open up to life again but Im glad Im making an effort to open up and live life again!!!

Wounds

Where there is good there is evil, so where there is happiness you are bound to get hurt. Life always manages to throw surprises at you specially at the times when you don't need them. There are sometimes when you have had enough and can't take anymore yet you end up facing more difficulties, trials and tribulations. People you thought would stick by you are the first to desert you, the ones whom you ignored before are the ones who stick by you. New people, new places all make a lot of difference but the wounds which are left behind to deal with refuse to heal. Trust once broken takes a lifetime to rebuild, wounds take even longer to heal, memories to be forgotten...life to be rebuild and finally move ahead. One relapse and the wounds are fresh again...one tiny coincidence is also enough. One mention of some passing incident and Im back into the same old depression...wonder when will the memories go, when will the wounds heal??? Earlier the smallest things would give the greatest joys and now those same things give the worst pain possible. Im tired of the fingers being pointed and of all the accusations, no doubt I have walked away from the situation but how can I walk away from my thoughts where the only question thats keeps coming up is 'why?', 'why all this nonsense?' Move on, life has more to offer... I keep saying this all the time and I have followed it to a great extent it will take me a great deal of time but Im not going to give up, I have been a survivor and I will emerge a survivor even this time.

Letting Go...

All good things come to an end and it is difficult to come to terms when it ends on a bitter note. Letting go of everything which so long gave you all the joy and happiness is not easy. The usual feeling of emptiness sets in, everything seems to be so quiet around me, a weird stillness has taken the place of the chirpiness I had and its not comforting. The only thing which seems to comfort me now is writing down whatever I feel, cause when I do I don't realise how the time has flown by and at the same time I find myself at peace. I have been analysing the situation around me but of no avail. It only manages to cause more confusion inside me. People of late have been commenting about the nature of my writing, saying that it has become depressive but I choose to remain in the same reflective state of mind as it gives me the peace I require. I have been trying to keep myself busy more like not leaving my brain idle but inspite of everything its difficult to forget something which had initially given the peace which I had craved for and the happiness it had brought with it. The stillness that has set in is unnerving, difficult to get over sometimes. Everything has two sides so does this situation the stillness is peaceful once in a while, when I choose the silence but more often than not I don't like it. But I think this is what you call life, which is never stable today what the situation wasn't like this yesterday and optimism tells me that it won't be like this tomorrow. Life moves on and Im not willing to let it stop...

Utilizing People

Im often told by this one particular person that we are all here for a purpose. True no doubt but some situations are different. There are exceptions to every rule and so there are exceptions to rule of existence of purpose. There are times when the sole reason of being with a person is companionship and not to fulfill any purpose but these days not many people seem to get that. But coming to think of it they are actually right about it in their own way, they have become so selfish that all they can think of is their own interests and nothing else matters to them. Why is it that when you find your dating partners that you forget your friends, why does dating restrict your life to just one person??? Life has so much to offer than just one person, its amazing to open up to life and lap up the various offerings of life. What about those people who are not dating at my age why should we simply be left behind...alone??? Left looking and wondering why time and again do people restrict their lives to one person. Thats where the concept of utilizing people comes in...we begin to surround ourselves with new people even though they may not match our wavelength yet, to shoo away the loneliness left by the people about whom we really cared, we start spending time with these new people and eventually do manage to keep ourselves busy...and if luck favours we manage to have fun again and touch base with our old selves not to mention see a different side of our personality which may have been dormant before due to various reasons. Utilizing things is normal but utilizing people is another thing all together...and not with very good consequences, yet we all end up doing it. I have people around me 24/7 Im trying my best to surround myself with things to do all the while cause if my brain is idle everything simply comes rushing back. Memories seem to be the only companion now in times of loneliness...they seem to rush back at all the wrong times, help at times but usually tend to throw me back into the same old depression which Im so badly trying to come out of. But looks like I need to utilize everything around me to get out of it...be it things or situations.

Memories

Memories are the only things which remain with you when something comes to an end. After everyone has deserted you its only the memories which stay with you. Many a times these help you to overcome the difficulties but more often that not you are left behind in the same ditch only due to memories. Im hoping to let go of these same memories to move on with life and live life to the fullest...yet they seem to be coming back and haunting me more than ever before. The feeling of being deceived is not easy to get over but has helped me a lot by simply choosing to walk away from the situation into the safe haven of my family and close genuine friends. Inspite of myself Im surrounding myself with illusions to get over the loneliness and silence that has creeped into my life but for once I don't mind it, cause I have the quiet support of the people who genuinely care about me. I just hope this choice helps me get back to my old bubbly and cheerful self.

Rebuilding...

Its takes a lifetime to build up everything but just a second or rather few words to break everything rather I would say break a person's heart and eventually their life...I have been through this phase recently and its a herculean task to hold up. Im a person who will never give up and I will walk through this with dignity...I accept I have made mistakes rather blunders and made wrong choices...time to forgive and forget, move on in life and more than anything else rectify everything. As I said it takes a lifetime to build up everything but it takes an eternity to rebuild everything which has been washed away or here snatched away. Misunderstandings are a part of life but when they are so serious that you start accusing and abusing the wrong people is where the problem starts. The actual culprits portray themselves as saints and get away with everything that they have done, while playing a double game all the while. Can't say how much I hate these hypocrites now. They don't realise what they have done cause they are happily enjoying their life now after killing the other person. Trust me its better to die than live life like a dead body where you don't feel any emotions its as if you don't feel human anymore yet all they can say is sorry. That one word I wish could change everything, but sadly it does nothing more but create more anger inside me. Anger is one thing which Im being forced to experience now. I have always maintained that I can never get angry even if I do it hardly lasts for a while but today Im furious, wild and mad at that one person who has butchered every emotion inside me to such an extent that I can't believe or trust anyone anymore. He has happily moved on with his life, falling in love again whereas Im left behind to deal with my wounds...which as all say will heal with time but I doubt it. Its hard to forget everything all those false promises oh I so wish I could get a butcher's knife right now to murder him which I would so gladly do. The pent up anger inside me seems to wanting to erupt out and I need to channelise it to save my sanity. Only consolation is that it is indeed time to move on in life...and rebuild.

Walking Away...

Nothing hurts more than being deserted by the person you love...yet when they lie, deceive you an automatic hatred starts to build up in your heart. Yet you cannot be angry with them and somewhere in some corner of your heart you know that eventually you will forgive them no matter how hurt you are...this is true love. Not something which changes with company, what do you call it, companionship love??? Ya right, I would rather say that person is extremely unstable. It is noticeable that I have been venting out a lot on this blog for the last few days but I know that writing things down does help me calm down. Today after months Im at peace, after months I have laughed genuinely and actually experienced hunger. So many months I felt hungry but never felt like eating but today I simply wanna gorge!!! It feels amazing to be free at last, to be able to walk away from the situation. Naming, thanks a lot Abhinav your advise really worked. Its hard to get over the feeling of injustice but when you do, the feeling of as if being released from a bondage is exhilarating. Personally I feel its better to forgive and forget cause if the anger remains it is difficult to move on with life. Some things are just never meant to be and the saying of setting the person you love free...today I can say is bullshit. It is absolute nonsense. In today's world everyone is out to grab your love, cause it seems to have become as expensive as gold, so it is better to nurture it and keep it close to your heart never letting it go. Being at peace with myself has finally brought me closer to my family...able to heal them with my love which was being wasted so long. So, the moral of the whole nonsensical situation is that, at the of the day its only your family who stick it with you through thick and thin...no one else. Remember one eternal saying when you laugh the world laughs with you, but when you cry you cry alone. Very few people will stand by you in times of crisis and one constant support system will be your family...so lesson learnt always stick to your family and listen to them to make life peaceful cause you can never beat their experinence no matter at what age you are.

Blamed And Victimised

Time and again I ask who the hell are you to throw your judgements at me, yet everytime I myself give you the chance to do so and eventually hurt me. I make it a continuous process I hate getting hurt but still I keep repeating my mistakes....mistakes which cause me a hell lot of heart-break and takes me more time to recoup than ever before. Its tiring to clarify everytime, to put every rumour to rest and most of all its frustrating to get your point across when people refuse to accept it inspite of knowing that you are not wrong. I wish I could use strong language here it would be much easier if I could actually use names here but I prefer to keep it anonymous. There, as usual I refuse to go public with my ventings...well I guess its my policy of refusing to do something which I object to. I have always been against washing dirty linen in public so, I refuse to do that myself but right now Im tired of keeping quiet and I guess I have kept quiet for way too long....so long that if I open my mouth now things are for sure gonna turn ugly. Quite a few relationships are gonna turn sour, but for once Im actually saying that I don't care...I don't believe that Im saying this but yes I really don't care, enough nonsense I have taken and for sure Im not taking anymore.

You Call This Love???

Illusions, lies, deceit is all I can think of when I recollect the memories of the past five months. Being cheated at every point of your life is not easy to handle...it only gives the feeling of being fooled for life. People who say they will remain with you through every difficulty trust me are the first ones to desert you the moment any trouble appears in your life. What do you call such people...friends??? Ya right, calling them friends is an insult to the relationship of friendship...and of course who can forget the so called love. Promises of remaining faithful are forgotten in an instant. Feelings seem to change like the phases of the moon...not to mention being outright rude and sodden when questioned about the sudden change in feelings...and these very people call themselves consistent and stable...sure what are you exactly trying to prove??? They seem to be as consistent and stable as the wind. Politics, back-stabbing, bad-mouthing everything seems to be the game of the day. When all this goes on between enemies its ok but when it comes into friendship who will not get disillusioned??? Its fine when you maintain your stance on something but for heaven's sake stop passing your judgements on something which you have no idea about. The habit which irritates me the most is when people throw their judgements on me. Who the hell are you to judge me...at the end of the day I know myself the best...so my feelings, my actions and their repercussions are best known to me...so stop being judgemental and for once look at what you yourself are upto. Are you so perfect that you have suddenly acquired the right to comment on their lifestyle, attitude, etc??? You think yourself to be god almighty on earth...so powerful, so perfect and absolutely flawless to go about commenting rather criticising everyone and everything around them...seriously I feel like telling them to get a life or rather open up to the various idiosyncrasies of life and accept situations around them the way they are rather than being judgemental. Apart from making their own life hell they also manage to screw up people around them...seriously you so called critics of characters and situation get a life for yourself...and for once follow the saying of live and let live.

Alone???

'Often we can help each other most by leaving each other alone; at times we need the hand-grasp and the word of cheer.'
Man is said to be a social being but more than often we have this strong tendency to detach ourselves from society. Little do we think about the people around us who love us and are trying desperately to reach out to us and help. But in that illusionary peaceful solitude that is acquired we become blind to all the care, love and affections shown to us. There are some people who are so disillusioned by their solitude that they get irritated at any display of emotion...I just wonder how to help them. I have been through this phase myself but thankfully extracted myself before I ended up losing the ones who care about me...but it was only because I let myself be helped. There is no use shutting out everyone from your life...it does nothing much other than just hurting the people around you. It generates more hatred for you than respect for the space that you require. More than anything its frustrating to get your point across...its useless to cut yourself off from the world; seriously what are you trying to achieve...the feeling of the life of a hermit??? It can be really peaceful for a while but when it gets bugging and you want to get back to your social life it will be very difficult to find people who are willing to accept you after your hiatus. So, for all those who want their solitude at the cost of hurting others for heaven's sake get out of that narrow mindset...open up to life, get a life for yourself and finally stop hurting those around you who genuinely love you rather than surrounding yourself with people who show mock concern.

Fool's Paradise

What a grand thing, to be loved! What a grander thing still, to love! Quoting Victor Hugo I once again feel that this is nothing but an illusion. I have come so far from calling it a mere illusion to proclaiming it as fool's paradise. When we fall in love, instantly come the promises of spending lives with each other, statements made that each one is so perfect to compliment the other person. One fight...one misunderstanding and all that feeling of being complete with each other, the perfectness all simply evaporates into thin air. All the promises are broken, old feelings lost down the road of getting hurt and mending...isn't there a saying that all is fair in love and war & promises are meant to be broken...but what about the hearts that are broken in the bargain??? After losing a love it feels as if some part in you has died out completely, which takes a lot of time, love and patience to come alive again. To get over this lost love we once again surround ourselves with various illusions, trying to keep ourselves busy with whatever nonsense that comes our way. These false comforts don't last long and its much better to live life by facing reality rather than running away from it. For all those who have loved and lost: if you love someone set that person free, if that person comes back he is yours, if he doesn't it was never meant to be...time to move on with your life. Time stops for none, life also the same way can't be restricted to one person....life is too short or too long to halt and wait. Like the continuous motion of the waves in the sea, life also has to move on...its all a part and parcel of life...getting hurt, mending and falling in love again only to get hurt again...learning from the mistakes yet committing them again...its a continuous process.

Relationship Or Restriction?

'Relationships are like crystals, you don't realise how much you love it until it breaks.'

Relationships are meant to cherished and enjoyed not something to be broken, taken a break from or called suffocating. They are like crystals no doubt but very often people find those very crystals suffocating so much that they want to be away from the people they love. They are not the ones to be left behind, they are not the ones who are hurt by the harsh words...so they don't understand the silence and loneliness which seeps into the other person's life. Their excuse for walking away is that they don't want to restrict their life to one person...makes me wonder that if you love the other person isn't it instinctive to make adjustments so that you don't hurt the other person? Agreed that there are restrictions in a relationship but when there is love you willingly follow those restrictions afraid of hurting your loved one, but when ego takes the place of love that willingness simply vanishes...wonder why? Every coin has two sides the same way everything including relationships has its own pros and cons so why not just accept the good and bad of it and try to make your relationship better rather than breaking away from it ultimately hurting the other person involved. The other person becomes so blind in his/her own illusionary freedom that he/she refuses to see the love coming from the other person. Feelings are meant to remain for a lifetime, makes me wonder why do they then change like the season for some people? Are you so unsure of your feelings for the other person that they change according to the situation? Its hard to find someone stable in accordance to their feelings...atleast Im proud to say that Im extremely stable when my feelings are concerned thankfully they don't change like the seasons around me.
Fa!ry
A fairy came down from heavens
And took my heart in a fraction
I felt so petrified and dumbstruck
Never felt so helpless in my entire life
Fair like a marble statue shone in moonlight
Fragrance more alluring than million flowers
Her beauty defied the cupid’s theology
Held me on trance of her magical words
Words rolled like pearls from her red lips
Musical sound froze the motion of streams
Ears yearned such heavenly feast in years
Indescribable aura around in charming reels
She had enlivened me for another day
Reinvigorated me with her words of pray
Her protective embrace had so tightly held me.

This was written for me by one of my closest friends and it has touched me so much that I could not resist putting it up on my blog. Apart from being flattered and at a total loss for words Im shocked that I could actually influence someone so much!!!

Noose Of Marriage

'We all have a childhood dream that when there is love, everything goes like silk, but the reality is that marriage requires a lot of compromise. '
Not all of us are willing to compromise so early in life say at the age of 24-26 when we are just beginning to settle down in our careers and tasting the various aspects of life but alas, not all share our point of view. I have the advantage of viewing one such situation from extremely close quarters where the person is being forced into match-making against her wishes. Advice from above that everything has a correct time and we must follow the laws of nature...dreams and aspirations can be realised later namely after marriage. Making a marriage work takes a lot of effort. In our stages of growing up when we come to realise the nuances of a relationship between a man and a woman, the relationship between our mom and dad has already seen rough weathers and has stabilised, its not so easy as it looks to us. But anywhere you look it always comes onto the woman to handle her marriage among the tensions of settling down in a new house and understanding her new partner(in cases of arranged marriages) how can one expect her to give her 100% to her dreams and aspirations. Its always the woman who makes the sacrifices...easy to say even more difficult to live with. When someone questioned me that why should women sacrifice the most, surprisingly being a woman myself I heard myself saying that this is an age-old notion which we can't change...so its easier to live if you simply accept it as a truth of life. No matter how advanced or progressive we call ourselves certain dogmatism always remains in the society specially surrounding marriages...be it concerning religions involved, love marriages or the age difference of the partners. The present generation don't seem to bother about all these trivial issues but the older generation don't relent easily. It is a coming together of two families when a marriage takes place, no doubt about that but in our Indian setting amongst the coming together of two families the likes and the dislikes of the two individuals who are getting married are lost. Ultimately its the marriage of the individuals which has to work out not the marriage of the families...if the marriage of the individuals don't work out what is the use of the ties between the two families? But who listens and in the end its the wishes of the older generation prevails on the basis of being more experienced.

Women Of Substance

I'm a child, I'm a mother
I'm a sinner, I'm a saint
Yet I do not feel ashamed.

Lives of great women remind us, that we can make ours sublime, and, departing, leave behind us, footprints on the sands of time...paraphrasing Longfellow seems in order today.
Women today are not scared to admit they are wrong and rectify their mistakes or stand tall that they are right and stick to their word till the very end. Suppressed since the medieval ages, when we are trying to break free from the restrictions which have tied us down our very own don't seem to helping a lot namely serials on television, where a woman is riding high on success after portraying women in poor light. But who cares, in today's world where everyone seems to have developed a don't care attitude no one cares about these serials either...you define yourself. This is exactly what the women of the present generation have been doing....we accept no one else's definition of our life but choose to define ourselves. Often labelled career-oriented or plain selfish to put her own interests ahead of her family has not diminished our aspirations or dreams. Today being women's day I wish this strength and stamina to very woman and hope that we can all break free from the age-old notions, traditions, stigmas and rules forced onto us. It is your own choice where you can choose to make your life hell or beautiful where you can live it on your own terms and conditions.

Life's Lesson

'Never search for happiness in others which will make you lonely; search for it in yourself and you will be happy even when you are left alone.'
For all those who complain that you have no one when you need to talk to someone the most this, is the only solution. I find solace in writing down my thoughts and feelings. We all tend to draw strength from something in some form or the other...I draw my solace from pouring out my emotions on paper. It has helped me over the past and is helping me now to keep peace with myself.

Here Without You

Your Silence has hurt me
Your Absence kills me
Your eager ear I miss,
Your smiles even more.
You are here,
But you are not.
You sit in the distant,
Laugh with your new friends
In mock happiness.
You know I am here
You know that I wait
But you choose to ignore
You choose to pretend you don’t see.
You know that I love you,
But you do not correct me.
And my foolish heart,
Follows your every move,
Smiles at your smiles,
Is happy at your happiness
Those things you
can’t take away from me:
Those simple days when
We just talked, just laughed.
When you listened, when you loved.
I have them, dear friend,
And I shall try to be happy with them.
And I wish you joy
from the depths of my heart.

Examania

Its again the most dreaded time of the year for we students...when you can only find us buried in our books with last moment notes and cramming. Mantra for survival during such times is don't question just accept and mug up, cause when it was the time to question we were peacefully sleeping most of us snoring away to glory in the classrooms!!! Phone calls these days only pertain to doubts varying from chemistry to sequences which is currently eating away my brain. Only thing to keep me sane right now is the date April 11 when my exams get over, I have never been so desperate for any other date in my life!!! Time to get back to my books and ruefully wish myself happy studying!

Attitude

'Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.'
Attitude is indeed a great force; it can either make or build a person's life. I have seen talented people remaining in the same position for years due to their negative attitude. Situations and circumstances in our life play a very important role in shaping our attitude. Our attitude might also vary according to the situation we face in our day- to -day life. I have in particular admired a very close friend of mine who seemed to have this never changing attitude, and much to her delight she has been complimented by most of us on this. In the two years that I have been with her in school I have always seen her coming down for the assembly every morning with a smile irrespective of the situation around us. The rest of us showed emotions varying from joy, anger, loneliness, etc but she always managed to lighten up the atmosphere with her disarming smile, and to this day I always manage to draw inspiration from that wonderful trait of hers. It is often quoted that 'smile a lot cause it costs you nothing.' It is very true indeed, a smile, mind you only one sweet smile can neutralize any tense situation and the other two things one can utilise are the powers of convincing the other person and diplomatism. I was once told rather advised by a confidante that your mouth is the best weapon you can use to either construct or completely destroy your life. I have utilized this power to quite a good extent for my good sometimes unknowingly even causing harm but ultimately turning around the situation by making good use of this power. When you are confident and honest in your proclamations it hardly takes few minutes to convince the other person. We can see the use of this weapon everywhere around be it our friends, acquaintances or politicians. Your attitude and your verbal skills determine your personality. I have known a particular person who both attitude and verbal skills but has always managed to utilize both with brute force which does not go down well with everyone around you. In college its cool to sport a nonchalant attitude but right now where my peers and I stand we have to let go of this attitude to survive in the cut-throat competition existing in the corporate world. I often wonder what people with a negative attitude are going to do: stay in the entrant position or change according to the requirements and move up the corporate ladder? That I guess only time will tell, but right now my logical thinking guides me to a more affable attitude which is not at all nonchalant.
